Tears come and then joy will follow;
Like lightning then the rainbow;
Like darkness then the day shows;
Yea, the best is yet to come.
So, never ever ever ever ever give up
- Never Give Up, For King & Country
Ever applied for a job and gotten rejected? Ever told your crush you like him or her and gotten rejected? Ever applied to get into a university and got rejected? Ever done anything at all and received a negative response at the end?
My point here is, as humans we all face rejection one time or the other. It's so painful especially when you remember all the efforts you put into it.
Earlier this year, February to be precise I had applied for something. After checking everything, submitting the necessary documents, prayed, I submitted my application. Winners were to be announced in May & June. I waited patiently for 4 (four) months for the result to be out. I was really confident that my application will be accepted. A week or two ago, I got an email from their team. This was around 12:30 am. I just had to check it there and then. I opened the mail and the first thing that caught my eye was "... we deeply regret to inform..." I didn't bother reading the other part. I got rejected! I felt so pained. I began asking myself questions Why did they reject my application? What exactly did I miss? I was so confused. I remember crying alone on my pillow. I felt so bad. I shot my uncle a text that morning telling him of what happened. He called me when the day was brighter and the first thing he said to me was "I'm going to throw your words back at you.. Don't give up, don't give in, There's always an answer to everything." That seemed to snap me out of my reverie. After that phone call, I realized:
I could give up all together, forget everything and accept that It'll never work
OR
I could keep on trying, keep praying keep on hoping and patiently waiting because where there's a Will, there's a way.
I actually chose the latter and safe to say though I haven't gotten what I want yet, I'm glad I didn't give up. I mean lots of the same opportunities are coming my way. I've had better experiences and another chance to get what I want.
Maybe you're like me, someone who has a lot of goals or maybe you want to get something done; here are few pointers to help you achieve what you want:
1. Visualize exactly what you want. Don't ever think of a goal as too small.
2. Write out your goals on paper. Writing them down actually brings them to life :
a. Write out why you want to achieve that goal.
b. What type of goal is it?
c. Write out the steps you'd need to take to achieve that goal.
d. Write out what happens when you achieve that goal.
3. Keep the note somewhere you can always see it (e.g your mirror, your door, your wallet, table e.t.c)
P. S: Remember to keep it brief and simple.
Maybe you've has situations that are similar to mine, the point here is don't give Up and Don't loose hope! Remember the story of the Spider who tried to go up but kept on falling down. Not once did he give up and he succeeded. Remember Thomas Edison, he tried more than 90 times before he was able to create the first light bulb. Remember that Good things don't come easy. You have to pay the price to win the prize.
And finally
Don't give up, don't give in, There's always an answer to everything.
