"Better to do today, what could be done tomorrow."
- Proverb
You know when you have an assignment that's due next month and you keep on pushing it till you have only two days to submit it? Guess what! You most likely procrastinated it.
I for one am an expert at this. I keep pushing things such as studying for that big test that's due next week until it gets very late. Procrastination isn't healthy. It might look okay but in reality, you're wasting time that could have been spent doing other things. We actually don't realize where all the time has gone to until its really late.
So today, I'm going to share with you tips on how to get work done more efficiently. (We're both learning here because even I need this. Hehe)
1. Remove Distractions:
Yes, take away anything that might distract you from what you might be doing. It could be phones, laptops, video games e.t.c. When all distractions are gone, you'd find it easier to concentrate on what you might be doing.
2. Give Yourself A Deadline:
Tell yourself that you've got to finish so and so task by this time, this week, next week or whenever. When you do this, actually keep your promise to yourself. You don't like it when a friend doesn't keep their promise, so why break the one you made to yourself?
3. Be Honest and Gentle With Yourself:
When you can't meet can complete a certain task, Do Not beat yourself up about it. Be honest with yourself, explain the reasons (legitimate ones and not excuses) as to why you couldn't and try to find out what you can do to remedy the situation.
4. Realize When You Need To Stop :
You're human, not a robot. Don't go trying to overwork yourself, you'd break eventually. Allocate time for your rest. Try and get your 8 hours of sleep. You might be like "I could have covered alot of things during thay period" Sure, that is true but don't do it. If you do break, how's the work going to complete itself?
Book Recommendation: How To Eat That Frog By Brian Tracy.
This book helped me immensely. Frog here is used figuratively. It went into depth about dealing with Procrastination and how to get work done more quickly. Check it out, I promise you'd love it.
And That's a wrap. I hope you enjoyed this. Remember to Subscribe and share to someone who you'd think would need this.
